It’s Summertime!

YAY! Grab the swimsuits, sunscreen, sunglasses and a towel and head to your nearest pool or beach! I think we have all had enough of this crappy COVID, and are just chomping and the bit to get away!

I live in the south and for those of us who know, that means, we step outside just to walk to the car and we’ve already sweated a bucket’s worth. The humidity is here to stay for a while like that unwanted brother-in-law coming to visit, but that just means, I’m going to the pool. We don’t have a pool, so we have to rely on Johnny’s dad’s house or just invite ourselves to my best friend, Michelle’s house to get some liquid relief!

I love to grill out burgers or chicken and have lots of fruit like grapes or watermelon on hand when we head to the pool. They are so refreshing, especially when we put the grapes in the freezer for a little bit. Of course, a liquid libation is in order and I love to put frozen peaches, ice and a sweet Moscato wine into a blender and make it into a slushy. PERFECT poolside cocktail!

Now, you’ve got your drink and snacks, let’s get that sunscreen on! Gone are the days of listening to NKOTB and Journey on the radio and slathering on the baby oil. No ma’am! 🙅🏻‍♀️ You need to protect that skin and your kids skin with some good sunscreen. Don’t forget to lather up the tops of your feet, your scalp, the tops of your ears (especially for those with short haircuts) and the corners of your armpits. Good golly! Nobody likes to be burned in the armpits! UGH! If you do in fact, become a little crispy by the end of the day, make sure to have some after sun or aloe on hand to soothe your skin. Take care of your skin so you don’t look like grandpa’s leather jacket from 1947.

Here’s a few other essentials I bring to the pool:

  • Large towel (I bought some huge thick pool towels at Sams for only $10 each)
  • Dollar Tree sunglasses
  • A straw sun hat. Check out Target or Five Below Store for some reasonably priced and cute ones.
  • Flip flops
  • Bathing suit cover up
  • Pool noodles from Dollar Tree
  • Inflatable floats (Five Below has some really cute ones)
  • Masks or goggles (Target or Dollar General)

What’s a pool day without some tunes? I put together a Spotify play list of summer songs that I love to listen to at the pool! If you’re a heathen like me, I don’t mind some bad language in my music, so beware if you have the kiddos near by!

Hope you guys find some time this summer to relax by the pool or take a beach trip to cool off and recharge. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Now, you try it!

Let me know in the comments what your favorite foods, songs and essentials are for pool/beach day! Be safe out there and get your RELAX on!
